About this test
Keyboards and mice reach the computer differently, and many keyboards add a few milliseconds of scanning and debounce delay. A dedicated spacebar reaction time test lets you measure the input you actually use in many games.
We respond to the key's keydown event and use its high-resolution timestamp, and we ignore auto-repeat events from a held key, so holding Space down can't game the test.
Getting a reliable result
- Keep your finger resting lightly on the spacebar, not pressing it.
- Wired and “gaming” keyboards with high polling rates usually add less latency.
- This test needs a physical keyboard; on phones, use the main test instead.
Results are measured in your browser and include some device latency. Read the methodology and disclaimer.
